I once read that today's young people view the church as follows:
(1) I wish the church was not only a lecture but a discussion;
(2) That the church would respect my intelligence and that it was okay to ask questions;
(3) That the church wasn't just about the church building;
(4) That the church gave less program and allowed more time to think and pray;
(5) That the church was a loving place;
(6) That the church cared about the poor and the environment;
(7) That the church taught more about Jesus.
That last point caught me a little off guard. What else would we be doing but teaching about Jesus? If we're not teaching about Jesus, none of those other things will happen. That is what we are - we are about Jesus. We want people to know about God's love and grace and mercy through the suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus. We want people to know about Him and how he loves and chooses each one of us to be His own. Bottom line: It is all about Jesus! And if it's not, we're all doomed to failure. And I don't think that's the way the Holy Spirit works.
Welcome
Youth are important at Zion Lutheran Church. We feel that it is a partnership between the church and the family to bring your child up in the way of the Lord. At this age, life can often be confusing as teens begin to question things they have learned. It is important to have friends that are Christian to counteract peer pressure and the many of choices they need to make at this age. It is a privilege for our staff and volunteers to mentor your teens and to guide them along the path the Lord has chosen for them. We understand the special demands on today’s youth and their needs.
Zion Youth Ministry involves youth in a variety of activities to strengthen their bond to Jesus, have fellowship together, and encourage service opportunities.
Zion's Youth Ministy also provides youth with a variety of ways to become involved with other youth. Whether it's going to a National Youth Gathering, a district event, joining our Youth Praise Team or just joining in on some local fun, you are always welcome.
Be sure and check out our NewLife Celebration. NewLife celebration is a place where you can feel very comfortable bringing a friend – it’s a place of celebration, a place that’s comfortable, a place that’s non-threatening. It is church in a new way– it is NewLife Celebration! Sundays at 11:30.
